Roxy is a very high energy, athletic dog with the delightful trait of being able to settle down and focus both while working and while in the house hanging out. She is always the boss of my other dogs, without any aggression or fighting, they all just understand that Roxy is the boss. She is not a “willful” dog and is very biddable. She is a “soft” dog and understands a gentle correction without having to repeat it over and over. She is also unique in that she seems to have no fear of new places, new noises, or new motion. When something “new” happens she checks it out eagerly and then calms down and goes about her business.
Roxy has earned her CCA. She is honey gold in color, weighs 52 pounds and measures 21 3/4 inches at her withers. She has a light boned, muscular athletic build.
Field work
Roxy is very “birdy” with high prey drive. She carried a live duck around by 12 weeks old without fear. She learned to do multiple marks easily and got her wcx by two years old. She has not been to any hunt tests but does senior level work in training. She marks well, has good memory, loves water, and runs blinds eagerly. She has a calm, focused attitude in the field. Hopefully someone will take her to a hunt test soon.
Agility work
Roxy cruised through her novice, open and excellent titles. she has gotten her mx and mxj and We plan to have a mach someday soon. This year she has been ranked as high as number 16 in golden retrievers in the country in agility. She is eager to work, speedy and athletic. her greatest “brag” is that she is now making times as fast as hawk and sometimes even faster. She has never had a fear of high places, in fact loves them and it was a challenge in the beginning to keep her off the a-frame and dog walk. She had always loved the teeter and seems to enjoy the motion when it tilts.
Roxy has been bred to Speaker, AFC AFTCH Rosehill’s Mr. Speaker MH FDHF OS CCA . The puppies are due September 19, 2010. Speaker has sired numerous performance dogs including field, agility, and obedience champions. This is expected to be a very strong performance litter producing puppies that are high energy, intelligent and willing to play any game we want to play. This breeding is planned to produce puppies that meet the Golden Retriever breed standard in athleticism, intelligence, temperament and conformation.
Proceeds from this litter will be donated to the GRCA Zeke Cancer Fund in memory of Speaker.
